Westside Park is Atlanta's largest park, built around the former Bellwood Quarry and its reservoir. The Park Mile route follows the 1.35-mile Purple Loop, with big views over the quarry you won't find anywhere else in the city.
The route
- Distance: 1.35 miles on the Purple Loop.
- Terrain: paved trail with open, exposed sections and some climbing.
- Extend it: other loops and trails in the park let you add miles.
Tips
- There's little shade on parts of the loop — bring water and sunscreen in summer.
- Check the park's hours before you go; it's a newer park and access can change.
- Stop at the overlook — it's one of the best views in Atlanta.
How to unlock the Westside Park medal
- Run the route above — any pace counts, walk breaks included.
- Copy your Strava activity link (or a link to a screenshot of your watch or phone).
- Submit it on the Park Mile Passport page. Once approved, the Westside Park medal unlocks in your passport. It's free.
