Sunset Park is the Las Vegas runner's park: a lake, sand dunes and views of the Strip skyline and the airport.

The route

• Distance: about 1.9 miles around the lake.
• Terrain: flat paved and packed paths.
• Extend it: the lake and dunes loop is about 3 miles.

Tips

• Run early — desert heat is serious.
• Carry water most of the year.
• Watch planes landing at the airport.
