Cochran Shoals is part of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and one of the most popular running spots in metro Atlanta. The Park Mile route is the 3.1-mile fitness loop — flat, wide and right along the river.
The route
- Distance: about 3.1 miles on the fitness loop.
- Terrain: wide, mostly flat gravel path — fast and easy on the legs.
- Extend it: side trails into the woods add hills and miles.
Tips
- A National Park Service parking pass is required — buy it before you run.
- The trail is busy on weekends and after work; early mornings are best.
- Flat and measured — a great place for a 5K time trial.
