Buffalo Bayou Park runs along the water from downtown Houston to Shepherd Drive, with skyline views, bridges and wide trails on both banks. The Park Mile route is the classic loop of about 5.2 miles: out on one side of the bayou and back on the other.
The route
- Distance: about 5.2 miles (cross at Rosemont Bridge for a tree-top skyline view and about 0.4 extra miles).
- Terrain: paved paths with a few gentle rollers near the bridges.
- Go long: connect to Memorial Park for a double-park long run.
Tips
- Houston heat is serious in summer — start early and bring water.
- After heavy rain, low sections near the water can flood; check conditions.
- Shared with cyclists — keep right.
