The Atlanta BeltLine is the city's favorite place to run: a wide, paved trail built on an old railway corridor that links neighborhoods, parks, murals and food halls. The Park Mile route is any 5K (3.1 miles) on the BeltLine trails — most runners use the Eastside Trail between Piedmont Park and Krog Street.
The route
- Distance: 3.1 miles on any BeltLine trail — Eastside, Westside, Southside or Northside.
- Classic 5K: start at 10th Street by Piedmont Park, run south past Ponce City Market and Historic Fourth Ward Park to the Krog Street Tunnel, and back.
- Terrain: flat, wide concrete trail with lights; very little shade on the Eastside Trail.
- Extend it: keep going to Reynoldstown on the Southeast Trail, or add a loop of Piedmont Park.
Tips
- Go early — by late morning the Eastside Trail is packed with walkers, scooters and bikes.
- Keep right and look back before passing; it's a shared-use trail.
- Water and coffee at Ponce City Market and Krog Street Market along the way.
- Run on the BeltLine and the nearby park? Historic Fourth Ward Park sits right on the trail — one run can unlock both medals.
How to unlock the Atlanta BeltLine medal
